A supervisor is an employee whose primary function is overall supervision of his/her staff during events. By their actions and examples, supervisors ensure that the guests have an enjoyable and safe experience.Supervisors should be thought of as a teacher who leads by example.

Specific duties will vary in the different areas of responsibility. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive assignments and special instructions at supervisor’s briefing.
  • Check all personnel assigned to an area to ensure that all are in attendance and ready to work.
  • Brief personnel on their duties for your assigned area, and for any special assignments and/or problems for specific events.
  • Set break schedule. Let your employees know where and how long they can take a break.
  • Maintain a constant liaison with other supervisors.
  • Interact with your employees as often as possible. As appropriate, provide advice, information, answer questions and offer encouragement.
  • Investigate and resolve any problems you or your employees encounter.
  • At the conclusion of the event “secure” your area and dismiss staff.
  • Monitor your radio.
  • Be positive and good-natured with employees whenever possible. All employees need to be thanked for a “job well done.”
